My boyfriend Tim really wanted a new Ipod for his birthday, like an actual big ipod that holds thousands of songs he may never ever get a chance to listen to. So instead of actually buying him one, I made a giant sheet cake in the shape of an ipod with some side treats from some of his favorite bands. (I made my parents and my brother give him giftcards to best buy so he could actually go and get an ipod. And the cake wasn't his only present)
This first picture is the Green Day Grenade Heart. It's made out of rice krispy treats covered with gum paste, and hand painted with food coloring.
You can never go wrong with the Beatles Yellow Submarine. Made from the same stuff as the heart, and again hand painted with food coloring.
Full view of the cake. It was huge... two sheet cakes laid on top of one another. The top icing is vanilla buttercream, the filling was chocolate peanut butter cream, and the cake was funfetti
This little guy was Tim's favorite, because it's from the album art of his favorite band MxPx. He's made out of the same stuff as all the other ones, and hand painted of course.
Top view of the cake.
Tim's thumbs up approval.
A little electric guitar on the side... (looks like Tim's)
After singing and what not, and having some cake, we had to cut the cake in half so timmy could bring some home, and we could have some at our house. So Tim had the bright idea of cutting it right above the wheel, and turning the half he took home into an ipod shuffle. We're so creative.
Welcome to Beachy Cakes, I am 24 years old and self taught at making the lovely cakes that are shown on this blog. I created this so I could display photos of my cakes, and artwork so I could get my name out there. I want to eventually own my very own cake shop, or some other business involving being creative. If you live near or in South Jersey and you want a sweet cake feel free to email me at BeachyCakes.ab@gmail.com. Pricing varies. Enjoy!

Nifty Fifty
Finally, after some waiting, and suspense...here is the fabulous fiftieth birthday cake. The photos will pretty much take you through most of the process.
This first Photo is the bottom tier freshly covered with fondant. (underneath the fondant is a delicious double chocolate chip peanut butter cream frosting, and red velvet cake. yum)
Next, we have hand made fondant zebra stripes for the second tier of the cake.
And some stars for the top tier...
The next two photos are the bottom tier getting snazzed up with some circle cut outs.
The top tier cut, and covered.
Side view of the top layer. (this layer has chocolate chip butter cream icing and red velvet cake)
The next three photos show the application of the diamond fondant cut outs for the top tier.
The finished top tier.
The zebra tier, which is the middle tier of the cake. (peanut butter cream icing and funfetti cake)
Finally putting all the pieces together..
The final product at my house, and in the car getting delivered.

21st Birthday
My boyfriend Tim's little sister just turned 21, so along with taking her out to dinner and out to bars, i decided I would make her a birthday cake.
This Photo shows a picture of the cake while I am still working on decorating it.
Close up of the top of the cake.
And a side view of the cake.
I used funfetti cake, and the filling/icing is Double Chocolate Chip Peanut butter cream. And of course Fondant for all the decorating and the top layer of icing.

Surprise 50th Birthday Cake
Next weekend is my friend Papp's mom's 50th birthday, and she wants a special cake for her. She has a surprise party planned out, and she asked me if I would make her mom a cake. She was pretty vague with exactly what she wanted, she gave me two specifics, her mom's favorite color, which is teal, and that she loves red velvet cake. A lot of help right?
This is what I came up with.
Each tier is a little different, but i tried to tie them all in together. The top tier is Red velvet cake with Chocolate chip Buttercream icing. The middle tier is yellow cake, with peanut butter cream icing, and lastly the bottom layer is again red velvet, but this time with double chocolate chip peanut butter cream icing. This is subject to change if Papp doesn't like something. But here it is as a general outline of what I will be making.
Pictures of the actual cake to come soon!
