Happy Retirement, and Farewell cakes!

The week I came home from vacation I had two cakes to get done, one for my Uncle's Mom's retirement party, and one for my good friend Kate Spillane who is leaving to attend grad school at Duke!!!! So they were both big occasions. Kate's party was held in AC and was a great time, she loved her cake but had nothing to cut it with! So people literally dug into it! Wish I had taken a photo of that. Happy Retirement Carol, and Farewell and good luck to Kate!!!!!

The school colors where Carol worked were blue and red... so this cake is very patriotic

Carol's cake was Funfetti, and vanilla buttercream icing

For Katie's cake I used a vintage Duke blue devil logo for the shadows of the blue devil.

Kate's cake was funfetti, and Oreo butter cream icing.

Congratulations Denise!!!!

Next we have a Giant Cupcake cake for Denise's High school Graduation! This cake was a little bit of a pain because the POWER WENT OUT!!!!!!! Yes that's right, the power was out from a huge storm that week, so it caused some heat issues, and light issues for working on the cake! I had completely finished the cake, and had stored it over night, and in the morning my mom woke me up to tell me the cake was sliding backwards! AND to make matters worse all the fondant I had used to make the bottom look like cupcake paper had slid and cracked. Good thing my mom woke me up early, and delivery wasn't for several hours. I managed to fix it, and in my opinion made it look better then the first time around. So congratulations again Denise! Hope you enjoyed your giant pink and orange cupcake!

those are all the before I fixed it shots. As you can see in the last photo the fondant was falling down and bunching at the bottom

Denise's cake was made of funfetti cakes, and orange and hot pink dyed white cake, with Chocolate buttercream icing.

Congrats Chrissy! & Happy Birthday Lexi!

I have been pretty busy lately with cakes, and just regular work in general, so my apologies for not updating my blog as often as I should have in the past few weeks. But these next few posts should cover everything I have done since the last time i wrote!

1st off we have a cake for my boyfriend's neighbor's daughter Chrissy. Chrissy graduated from Upper Darby Highschool this year, and their colors are gold and purple so her mom asked for those colors along with a gold crown on top. Along with the graduation cake, they asked for 50 cupcakes and a smaller cake for their niece Lexi, who I was told thought that her aunt had forgotten her birthday! So both cakes were a big surprise to both girls. The party and the cakes ended up being a total success! So congratulations Chrissy, and Happy Birthday Lexi again!

Chrissy and Lexi's cakes were both funfetti with vanilla buttercream icing
